When Sony Ericsson announced that they were attempting to organise the lives of their customers, many looked on in disbelief. Then they demonstrated the G700 and G900 and all became clear. Sony Ericsson is renowned for creating fashion friendly mobile devices that satisfy the younger generation in society. But with the introduction of these two phones, it is easy to see that the mobile giant is looking to spread its wings and venture into new markets. Sony Ericsson already has a number of fans in the smart phone arena, can it add an army of followers in the more mature markets as well? Only time will tell.
The G700 and G900 mobile phones are very similar in appearance and indeed have very similar features. Both mobile phones come with a large 2.4 inch display that is entirely touch screen. Both come with “one-touch” media organizer and menu and both have the “one-touch” media experience. Where the phone differ is in the camera and in connectivity.
Firstly the Sony Ericsson G700 comes with a 3.2 mega pixel camera. This is a slight disappointment, especially considering the K850i (which is almost 1 year old now) comes with a 5 mega pixel offering. The G700 also lacks Wi-Fi connectivity, a real let down considering that there are so many hot spots around today.
The G900 by contrast comes with an altogether fantastic 5 mega pixel camera and does have Wi-Fi connectivity. These are two very important features that make the G900 really stand out compared to its cheaper alternative. If you are planning to purchase either of these mobile phones, it is important to ask yourself a couple of questions before hand. Firstly do you plan on taking many photographs? If you do, then definitely go for the G900 and secondly do you plan on connecting to your home wireless network? If you do then the G700 is not what you are looking for.
