The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is the most exciting phone to be launched for 2008 !
Fully loaded, it’s difficult to know where to begin. The X1 is a stylish device with a touchscreen 3″ display with a full QWERTY keyboard that is revealed when the innovative arc shaped slider is opened. It weighs 145 grams and measures 110 x 17 x 53 millimetres.
At the heart of the Sony Ericsson X1 is the Windows Mobile Operating System, touch screen technology and a superb multimedia experience thanks to the huge 3 inch display. But Sony Ericsson haven’t just gone for the standard Windows look and feel, as the XPERIA has a customisable “panel” interface designed for fingertip navigation. Windows Mobile comes with pretty good media support, and the XPERIA X1 also has an FM radio. Windows Mobile also has pocket versions of Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint plus Internet Explorer for web browsing. In addition, it supports push email and has an RSS newsreader. With the huge display, a host of Windows applications, document views and editors, email access, Bluetooth and Wi-FI, Sony Ericsson X1 provides you with the tools you need to keep on top of your work load.
The slide-out QWERTY keyboard on the X1 is unlike rival devices as it is an ergonomic “Arc slider”. It actually curves when it opens, giving a better typing position than a “flat” slider.
The Sony Ericsson X1 is a 3G handset that offers super fast web browsing, e-mail access and 3G video calling. It’s also Wi-Fi enabled so you can hook upto the internet at any convenient “hot spot”. The X1 also has expandable memory via microSD so you’re choice for a music collection is absolutely huge.
It utilises a 3.2 megapixel camera which is a little disappointing in this day and age when 5Mp and now 8Mp are becoming the norm but hey, you can’t have everything can you ? Also bundled into the Sony Ericsson X1 is aGPS so the handset can be used with a compatible satellite navigation application and you can find your way about without getting lost – Cool !
