Trade in old cell phone for iPhone 3G discount?
I purchased a Sony Ericsson W580i about 6 months ago, but it broke a few weeks later. I called AT&T to inform them that the phone broke, but that I could not exchange it because I was about to leave for a 3 month long business trip. They said that it was no problem and registered the phone so that when I came back from my business trip, I could take it to an AT&T to get it fixed. However, with the release of the iPhone 3G, I was wondering if they would just give me the discount for the new iPhone since none of my numbers are currently eligible for the upgrade. After all, I would be making a commitment of $30/month for the DATA plan, pretty much ensuring that they would not loose any money for accepting the deal. Do you guys think that AT&T would be smart enough to accept?
