Sony Ericsson K850i is First 5 Megapixel Phone for Sony Ericsson

Mobile phone technology is a fast moving race to include the very latest and highest specification hardware and software into new releases and up and coming models. Currently there are only three models available with a 5 megapixel camera on board, the Nokia N95, Samsung G600 and LG KG920 Leo but other manufacturers are hard at work putting the finishing touches to production and release of their new handsets featuring this technology.

The first phone launched with the high specification camera was in fact the LG KG920, this is a little heard of handset and does not benefit from the huge marketing campaigns of its rivals, it has been available now for almost twelve months and yet the hype very much surrounds the two other popular models which it seems get far more market exposure.

The KG920 is still available now but from very select outlets, it is a lot bigger than the other models and this may explain why it has not faired as well as the others.
The second and perhaps the best known of the 5 megapixel camera phones is the Nokia N95, the manufacturer have put all of their latest know-how and expertise into releasing this N-Series phone with features far beyond the reach of the KG920 but it does now have some real competition from a new camera phone from Samsung – The Samsung G600 both in Black and Silver Editions.

Samsungs offering is smaller, lighter and sleeker than the N95 and most importantly holds the highest resolution video recording capabilities available on the market.

The new Sony Ericsson K850i is a direct upgrade to the popular K-Series phones, the K800i and K810i both of which sport a 3.2 megapixel camera. These phones are classed as Cybershot phones taken from Sonys dominance of the camera market and they offer features not found on other models from their portfolio.
Firstly, there is a Xenon Flash which is far more effective than the industry standard LED photolight in poor lighting conditions, then there is AutoFocus, an innovational feature which mobile photography far easier and quicker, the user can now simply point and shoot high quality still pictures at the press of a dedicated button.

The new K850i features all of these extra technologies plus its new Auto Lens Cover that protects the screen when not in use, no more forgetting to close the cover and being left with scratches across the screen. Another new addition is the way the screen can move from landscape to portrait automatically by sensing which way up the handset is, very useful for wideangled shots in the landscape position.

The K850i is also a 3G enabled device allowing for fast download speeds and access to a wealth of entertainment, content and streaming media. Users can check the news and sports headlines, view weather reports, download new movies, music tracks, and mobile content such as ringtones, games and mobile applications.

The new Sony Ericsson K850i is a worthy rival to the other 5 megapixel camera phone currently available, not only will it benefit from the loyal Sony Ericsson following but with the extra features on offer is likely to entice many new consumers looking for the best in mobile technology.
