Nokia scored big points against Apple in a constant battle their court. United States International Trade Commission ruled that the Cupertino-based company has violated a number of Nokia patents related to cellular phones, computers and music players and have banned the sale of Apple products in the United States.
Product in question is Apple iPad IOS-running (both versions), iphone 4, 3G iphone and ipod Touch. Their sales in the U.S. have been suspended indefinitely and Apple face heavy fines, which have not been announced. Experts believe that it will be between $ 1 billion and $ 2 billion.
Apple still has the right to appeal the decision, but already there are very few previous cases, where the ITC decision was changed.
Effectively this means that unless Apple and Nokia signed a Patent License Agreement, U.S. citizens will not be able to buy a new IOS device until Apple come up with their own solutions to patented technology. So far both companies have declined to comment on the possibility of signing the agreement.
Nor is there to say if Nokia will try to get the ban on the sale of the same for Apple products in Europe.
Anyway we will continue to track the progress of the case – stay tuned for further updates. And if you’re going to buy your IOS device may want to act fast or you may lose your chance for some time to come.
