How can an unlocked phone access the mobile web?

Can any one out there help me with this problem? K I bought this LG KG800 from LG mobile.com right? well I also have an att SIM card or Smart chip* now the phone is unlocked and it is a gsm meaning it works with SIM cards. Well all what did was insert the SIM card in the phone and I went to the web browser and what happend was well nothing it did not even acess the MEdia net home (which MEdia net is att’s mobile net home) I was puzzled really, so what I did was I took a look at the settings and oh my god there was a lot of things to fill out!! I used my other att phone to take a look at the settings and I have wrote it down and typed it in the phone experienceing the mobile net issues. It simply did no work at all! sure text messageing worked but no mobile net! I kept trying but nothing can some one out there please help me? I would really REALLY apreciate your help :)
